There are three main
types of airsoft gun, these are spring, gas and AEG (automatic electric
gun). Spring guns fire one pellet at a time, having to be manually
recocked for each shot. They have a lower range than other modes of gun.
Gas guns use compressed, CFC-free gas which delivers a higher range than
a spring gun. In addition these can fire either semi-automatic or fully
automatic depending on the model of the gun. Mostly these gas guns are
semi-automatic pistols. Blowback pistols even go so far as to resemble
the recoil of a real gun. AEG's are the most commonly used guns in
airsoft and mainly resemble rifles and SMG's (sub-machine guns) firing
in both semi and fully automatic mode. powered by a battery and electric
motor, these guns usually provide a higher rate of fire and longer ranges
than spring or gas rivals
